The Hope College Department of Mathematics invites applications for one tenure-track position in mathematics to begin Fall 2009. Strong applicants from all fields of mathematics are welcome, and those with interests in mathematical biology are especially encouraged. PhD required. Primary responsibilities include teaching (typically 5 courses per year) and research (including working with undergraduates).
Hope College is a Christian coeducational, residential liberal arts undergraduate college affiliated with the Reformed Church in America; has over 3,000 students (3,140 FTE) and 250 FTE faculty; is a member of the Great Lakes Colleges Association; is accredited by NCA, NCATE, ACS, NASAD, NASD, NASM, NAST, CSWE, EAC of ABET, CCNE and CAATE; and is located in a city of 35,000 enriched by a significant Latino population and growing Asian and African American populations in a rapidly growing urban area of over 100,000; is near Lake Michigan, within short driving distance of Grand Rapids (over 500,000) and relatively close to Ann Arbor and Chicago. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to combine excellence in classroom teaching with scholarly activity, along with a commitment to the character and goals of a liberal arts college with a Christian perspective.
