Name: Dunking Basketballs

Abstract:  This experiment was conducted on eleven Hope College football players to determine the best jumping takeoff method to improve consistency when dunking a basketball.  This study looked at the following explanatory variables: height, weight, jumping style, and takeoff distance. The response variable studied was the height reached on the vertical jump testing pole.

Variables (column):

  1. Height (inches)
  2. Weight (pounds)
  3. Style (1 foot or 2 feet)
  4. Close (Height of jump in inches when standing close)
  5. Far (Height of jump in inches when standing far)
  6. Difference (Close–Far )

Possible Uses:  General Linear Model, Matched Pairs
