Name: Political Alignment

 

Abstract: A survey was sent to Hope College students to see if their personal views aligned with their choice for the 2008 Presidentís views.

 

Variables (column):

  1. Class Standing (1=Freshman, 2=Sophomore, 3=Junior, 4=Senior, 5=5th Year Senior)
  2. Gender (0=Female, 1=Male)
  3. Candidate (Respondentís choice for President 2008; 1=Barack Obama, 2=Hillary Clinton, 3=John McCain)
  4. Abortion Alignment (0=Does Not Align with Chosen Candidate, 1=Does Align with Chosen Candidate)
  5. Iraq Alignment (0=Does Not Align with Chosen Candidate, 1=Does Align with Chosen Candidate)
  6. Immigration Alignment (0=Does Not Align with Chosen Candidate, 1=Does Align with Chosen Candidate)
  7. Marriage Alignment (0=Does Not Align with Chosen Candidate, 1=Does Align with Chosen Candidate)
  8. Gun Alignment (0=Does Not Align with Chosen Candidate, 1=Does Align with Chosen Candidate)
  9. Drug Alignment (0=Does Not Align with Chosen Candidate, 1=Does Align with Chosen Candidate)
  10. Drug Alignment (0=Does Not Align with Chosen Candidate, 1=Does Align with Chosen Candidate)
  11. Total Alignment (Total number of responses that match the chosen candidateís view)
  12. Alignment Percentage (Percent of responses that match the chosen candidateís view)
