Here are several files that will be helpful when using this text. They are also available from Pearson Prentice-Hall. Several of these files are zipped files. Move all of these files into a folder named Tanis-Hogg on your c-drive and then use them.

Explorations with MAPLE

by

Zaven A. Karian
Elliot A. Tanis

This lab manual is no longer available in print. However, it is available as a free download PDF file from Pearson Prentice-Hall. It is also available here: Maple Manual.pdf. A MAPLE supplement of 130 MAPLE procedures is also available. A summary of these procedures is given in a MapleCard.pdf file that can be pasted onto an 8 1/2 by 14 sheet of paper for a trifold.

The supplement of 130 MAPLE procedures and the data for the lab manual are available here. They are called KT.zip. To use them, first extract all of the files and then copy them onto your C drive in a folder named KT (for Karian-Tanis). To see how these procedures work, load MAPLE and then open the Menu in the folder ICOTS-5 that is located in the Maple Examples subfolder. Run this menu.

In the future, load at least the first few lines from page xii of the Manual. Within the Manual there is some Maple code. From the PDF file you can copy and paste that into your Maple worksheet.

Please contact me if you have difficulty getting started.

Here is a short PowerPoint presentation of covers of books for which I have been an author. (book covers)
