Week 54 Pictures
|
|
Mama thought that I should go to a special photographer. He put the pictures on a disk so that Grandpa can put them on my web page. |
| They thought these first two were the best. But they had to pay for all of them so there are a few more below. | |

Tulip Time Pictures

Tatah and Sedou made a special fish lunch. Tatah also stuffed some potatoes with beef. It was a very special lunch. |

My First Birthday
![]() |
|
![]() |
Tatah and Sedou came all the way from Bethlehem for my birthday party. |
![]() |
I showed Tatah and Sedou the pretty tree in the neighbor's yard. |
![]() |
I like to make funny faces and make people laugh. |
Month 12 Pictures
![]() |
I was sleeping nicely in my bed when the Cook Hall residents decided it was time for a study break and a birthday party for me. So here I am, out of bed and onto the table. It looks like they started to eat my cake before I even got here. |

Month 10 Pictures
![]() |
Grandpa decided that he should get me out of bed so that he could take some pictures. He missed my 10 month birthday by 5 days. You can see my favorite blanket. I can spin the toy on my bed with my feet. That is fun. |
![]() |
I am sitting in my new chair. It can rock. Isn't it pretty? |
Month 9 Pictures
![]() |
|
![]() |
I love to take cans apart and stick my fingers into cans. But I learned on Monday that it is not a good idea to stick your finger in a tin can with sharp points. But I did learn that I have nice red blood and that there are some nice doctors that are willing to sew up and stick wounds back together. I also learned that if I chew on a bandage and make it come loose that I get to see the doctor again to get a clean bandage. And it seems like lots of people love to share similar stories that happened to them or to their children. |

I can also sit up straight on a table. |
![]() |
It has been very cold and there was a lot of snow. Finally I could go outside and went to Grandpa's office so that he could take some new pictures of me. Grandma thinks that I am getting very heavy when she carries me around. I am also getting bigger so that she has trouble making clothes that are large enough. |
Month 6 Pictures
![]() |
I am now 6 months old so Mama thought that we should go to a real photographer even though she has taken lots and lots of pictures. We had to go two times because the first time the computer lost my pictures. This time they gave these to Mama so they could go on my Web page. |
![]() |
Mama is doing a good job learning how to take care of me. I thought you would like to see a picture of her. |
![]() |
I have a very nice father. All I have to do is make just a little cry and he is there to pick me up. He especially likes to let me sleep on his shoulder. I think he also takes a little nap while I am sleeping. |
Week 24 Pictures
![]() |
After having a liquid diet all of my life, I am finally getting some "solid food." Actually it is quite runny. Today I had cereal and then some sweet potatoes. |
![]() |
Mama was feeding me so that I could play with my feet while I ate. Grandpa tried to show me how to blow the sweet potatoes back out of my mouth but Mama told him that Uncle Joel would teach that to me. |
Week 19 Pictures
![]() |
Grandpa has been too busy to take my picture so today Mama took me to his office so that he could take my picture there. I am already 19 weeks old and growing "like a weed." |
![]() |
The doctor was very surprised to see that I already have two teeth. But they didn't help much when Mama tried to feed me some rice cereal. When I suck on my fingers or on my toes I try to not bite too hard. |
![]() |
This picture with Mama will help you see how tall I am getting. I can also make some new sounds. Yesterday at dinner I "talked" with Uncle Joel. We both seemed to be speaking the same language. At least he was able to say the same things that I said. I think he was learning from me. |
Week 15 and Baptism Pictures
![]() |
It is Sunday, August 16. Today I was baptized by Rev. Kathy Davelaar. She is the minister who performed the "marriage celebration" of Mom and Dad here in Holland. Grandpa Awad married them in Bethlehem. Grandma and Grandpa Tanis were the attending elders for my baptism. I had a pacifier in my mouth when Rev. Davelaar took me. I decided to get rid of the pacifier and it became a "holy pacifier by immersion." In case you cannot see it in this picture, look at the next picture. |
![]() |
Here is my holy pacifier.
Uncle Joel sang after William David Bast and I were baptized. I wish you could have heard him. You can at least read the words below. |
![]() |
VOCAL SOLO by Uncle Joel, written by L. Walker
You created their inmost being
Something stirs me when I look in their eyes.
Father, I thank you now
Simple pleasures bring smiles to their faces.
Give us wisdom far beyond our years.
|
![]() |
Some of you have asked about my family. Here is a picture of my Holland family. Grandma fixed a big Sunday dinner for us. |
13 Week Pictures
![]() |
It is August 3, 1998, and my 13th week birthday. Mama thought that perhaps I should start celebrating birthdays only once a month. But last Saturday they went to Grand Rapids to LOOK for a high chair for me and decided to BUY one for me for my 13th (week) birthday. Now I have to learn how to sit up. Mama has to go back to work today so Grandma is taking care of me. It is almost time for a nap. |
![]() |
It is time for Mama to leave. Grandma still seems to be quite relaxed but I have to let her know that I don't always go to sleep right away without some cuddling and rocking. But I think we will get along o.k. |
![]() |
Just let me have a little nap and something to eat. I am then ready to watch those neat videos. I especially like to "talk to the characters" in the videos. |
12 Week Pictures
![]() |
We made it back from New York. We had a good time while we were there. BUT did you ever try riding backwards strapped in a car seat all day long? I let Mama and Baba know when I was tired of it by exercising my lungs. (They called it crying.) But it worked and we stopped at a nice motel going and coming home again. In case you lost track, I was 12 weeks old on July 27. |
![]() |
You must come and visit me. I have a new video with lots of sounds, music, and pretty pictures. It is fun to watch and listen to. |
An 11 Week Picture
![]() |
My 11 week birthday is on Monday, July 20. But today, July 17, Mom and Dad and I are starting our trip to Camp Warwick in New York. I think we are going to see Canada on the way. Is Canada very big? Baba is going to be Chaplain next week. This is the camp where Mom and Dad first met. I was sitting in my chair watching Grandma clean up the kitchen before we leave. |
Ten Week Pictures
![]() |
How would you like to come and watch videos with me? They have lots of color and nice music. And Mom has a nice lap to sit on. I also had fun watching the World Cup on TV with Baba (for those who do not know Arabic, that is my Dad). |
![]() |
Do you like my star friend? She makes squeaky noises. |
Nine Week Pictures
![]() |
How do you like the new swing that Dad and Mom bought for me? |
![]() |
I am still trying to get Mom and Dad and the rest of the world on MY schedule. |
Eight Week Pictures
![]() |
Grandpa came back from Japan and Singapore so he can again take my picture. I am now 8 weeks old. Here are my new "circle friends." |
![]() |
I like to smile at my "circle friends." |
![]() |
They are fun to look at. If you come to visit me, I will show my friends to you. |
![]() |
I like to lie down and look at some pretty things that hang above my head. Sometimes I kick and wave my arms and hit them. That is fun. |
Five Week Pictures
![]() |
This is my FIVE week old picture. Yesterday I went to church for the first time. A lot of people wanted to see me and my mama got nervous. So we got out of the crowd. |
![]() |
I am now FIVE weeks old. This is a good place to catch a little shut-eye. And when I open my eyes I can see lots of things. |
A Four Week Picture
![]() |
This is my FOUR week old picture. I am getting to be so big. And I now get to go shopping and visiting - sometimes in the car and sometimes in the stroller or Mama carries me in a neat "bag" so I can sleep if I want to. |
Three Week Pictures
![]() |
This is my THREE week old picture. Grandma is making this quilt for me. It would have been done by now but she is too busy helping my Mother and Father and taking care of me. |
![]() |
Just in case you thought that I was always happy, I wanted you to know that I spend some time each day exercising my lungs. While I do this, my parents guess - Dirty diaper? Gas pains? Hungry? Sleepy? Put me down? Pick me up? Fill in the blank _______? |
Two Week Pictures
![]() |
Dad stayed up with me until 5 a.m. Now he has to study while I can take a long nap. |
![]() |
This is my TWO week old picture. I finally opened my eyes for Grandma before she made dinner for Mom and Dad. |
![]() |
This is my two week old picture with my grandfather. Uncle Joel painted the angel. |
